The Maintenance Planner responsibility is a major role of the Centralized Proactive Maintenance Planning environment.
Maintenance Planner's role is to maintain focus on proactive objectives using consistent processes and Maintenance Best Practices.
The primary role of the maintenance planner is to improve maintenance productivity, effectiveness, and cost by coordinating availability of internal and external maintenance resources at Mt.
Holly.
The maintenance planner is charged with supporting the execution of maintenance by creating, planning, estimating, and coordinating maintenance work orders.
This position also ensures the timely and coordinated availability of:
parts, materials, special tools and equipment, labor hours and skills required for orderly and efficient work execution.
This position functions under the direction of the Maintenance Planning Supervisor subject to established policies, procedures, and practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Job Planning:
Ref SOP 0648 Coordinate all required aspects of job; crafts, materials, tools, prints, etc.
Review maintenance work request for significant and required information for effective work order development and follow-up.
Determine in conjunction with Maintenance Supervisor materials/services required for maintenance job.
(Maintenance Supervisor SOP-0399) Compile estimates for maintenance repairs, modifications, and construction jobs to be performed.
Contact supplier for material prices and lead times.
Initiate new supplier set up when necessary.
Follow up on past due parts.
Research and provide the necessary MSDS to Industrial Hygienist and Environmental department before ordering materials containing chemicals.
Estimate the man-hours on planned work orders for backlog and scheduling purposes.
Planners may assign crew members to specific work execution assignments.
Schedule Development:
Ref SOP-649 Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety is a number one priority.
Champion Best Practice Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Processes.
Create and publish weekly schedule for maintenance crew(s).
Lead weekly maintenance/production planning meeting to determine work priorities to coordinate with production schedules.
Coordinate maintenance crew and production schedule with outside contractor work.
Coordinate maintenance work with other maintenance crews, Rebuild, Fab, CMT, etc.
Notify insurance carrier when scheduled job requires impairment of any area of the primary fire protection system.
Review the Open Work Order Report and Asset Activities as needed to establish priorities, determine overloads, and recheck due dates.
Schedule contractors or suppliers who are performing maintenance projects in assigned area of responsibility.
This includes any bid conferences for project or budget quotes and scheduling contractor safety meetings.
Bill of Materials Management SPA for ensuring that Asset Bill of Materials within the CMMS are kept current.
SPA for initial Capital Spares and the Capital Spare replacements.
Maintain Asset Item Spares in conjunction with the Maintenance Supervisor for the proper Asset BOM MIN/MAX replenishment.
SPA to prepare maintenance equipment/parts for vendor repair:
Acquire Return Authorization Number (RA#).
Acquire classification information for submittal to Customs Compliance for export of equipment/parts.
Standardize Data Management Maintain integrity of CMMS asset/work order history files for standard report requirements and cost control analysis for assigned area.
SPA to ensure all maintainable assets are included in the Planned Proactive Maintenance Program.
SPA to maintain integrity of PM program, i.
e.
checklist, frequency, estimated hours, etc.
Super User of the eAM-Maintenance software to assist with identifying problems and opportunities to better utilize the software.
Perform system functionality testing and verification of system patches and enhancements.
Maintain records to meet Regulatory Compliance such as ISO, MACT, SMACT and, Century Aluminum Standards.
SPA for Annual Overhaul Schedule Creation for assigned areas of responsibility.
OTHER DUTIES Inform the appropriate maintenance and production areas of any delays or problems arising from planned work requests scheduled in their areas.
Update work order history with detail comments or changes to job procedure noted by craftsmen.
Research the history of the faulty operating assets in conjunction with Maintenance Supervisors and Reliability Engineers to determine if modifications could eliminate problems.
Supply work histories, schedules, estimates, and reports as requested by management.
Assist the Maintenance Supervisors in determining maintenance material requirements for next year's budget.
Ensure purchases are directed to correct budgeted account.
SPA for supplier invoice resolution by verifying charges, confirming maintenance work complete or direct materials received, and updating I-Procurement with correct price.
Fill in for Planner Supervisor as required.
Review blueprints as needed pertaining to the assigned area of responsibility to determine the prints are correct and submit any necessary revisions to the Engineering Department.
Perform other maintenance functions or general request by Management.
Contacts Relationships:
With the associated Maintenance Supervisor to discuss all aspects of job preparation for the particular crew and determine work schedules and material requirements.
With associated peers/planners to coordinate maintenance schedules when multiple crews are involved with job.
With Production Supervisor to discuss incoming work requests originating from their areas which require equipment scheduling.
With Production and Warehouse personnel to discuss material orders, deliveries, and requirements.
With EPCM Firm to discuss Capital Projects, New Assets, drawing changes and modification requirements.
With Reliability Engineers, Maintenance Teams as required or as needed, and other plant protocol teams when pertaining to maintenance process.
With outside suppliers to discuss material prices, delivery, service, and new products.
With Environmental to provide records pertaining to maintenance as required for Regulatory compliances such as ISO 9001 & 14000, MACT, etc.
With Purchasing for providing information for Online Bidding, Service Contractors information and detailed information for Direct Items purchases.
With the Warehouse, Stock Setups, Stock Changes, Ship Outs, Rebuilds and Fabrications.
With Contractors to discuss job scopes, quotes, scheduling, job progression and job follow-up.
With Contractor Safety Coordinator ensure Servicing Contractors meets with the Safety Coordinator and follows the established company procedures for entering and performing work on plant site.
