Job DescriptionJOB PURPOSE The State Director (SD) is a member of the Education Leadership team who reports to and supports the Chief of Schools to drive the excellence of our K-12 network of schools' academic performance, operations, educational programs and CSUSA's core educational strategies.
The SD is accountable for managing all regional operations personnel within their assigned state / region.
The SD will lead operations, strategic development and further support school improvement within their assigned state and work collaboratively with the Deputy State Director (DSD), when applicable, in order to implement our premier educational model focused on data-driven instruction and student achievement.
The SD will create a culture of constant improvement and is an inspirational leader, committed to operational excellence and attaining the highest student performance and growth outcomes.
The SD will provide guidance and support to the regional staff and help them reach high levels of achievement.
The SD will work with the regional team and the Support Center to develop systems and processes that meet the needs of the region with oversight and accountability to the Chief of Schools.
The SD will work to create a culture of performance results, accountability and excellence within the region and state.
The SD will be knowledgeable of their State-specific Department of Education (DOE) policies and procedures in all academic areas, school operations, mandated State reports, teacher and principal evaluations and accountability frameworks that determine school performance.
The SD shall also be knowledgeable of federal statutes that impact academic programs and services within their assigned state.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLeads Principal Team Collaborates with principals and lead principals.
Conducts regular Principal and Assistant Principal meetings for region as well as support central meetings.
Completes midyear evaluations with all new principals and veteran principals who request one.
Sets strategic and performance goals with each Principal, conducts quarterly performance reviews and progress monitoring of strategic plan initiatives by providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
Monitors non-negotiable academic and achievement goals by month through school walk-throughs and completion of the monitoring checklist.
Monitors operational performance of schools through finance.
Conducts and documents weekly phone conferences with new principals to provide ongoing support.
Participates in Grant and Dashboard conference calls Budget and Finance Accountable for regional budget and financial management including responsibility for budget development and long-range financial planning.
Coordinates the development and monitoring of the school budgets with Principals and Deputy State Director.
Works with the Chief of Schools and Deputy State Director to ensure budgets are aligned to overall Education budget.
Enrollment Holds school leaders accountable for meeting enrollment targets.
Ensures schools are compliant with State enrollment reporting and maximizing allowable funding.
Works with Enrollment Managers to track and monitor regional enrollment data.
Collaborates with marketing team to execute marketing strategies designed to build awareness and boost enrollment and retention.
Prepares a variety of reports, analysis and solutions to drive enrollment and retention.
Governance Participates in pre-board calls.
Review and approve monthly principal board reports.
Follow up with new leaders after the pre-board call.
Attend and support CSUSA board meetings.
Staff Development Approves requests from schools for outside staff development.
Ensures leaders are participating in PD outside of organization and teaches back to enhance organization.
Works together across regions to ensure cross regional staff development.
Assigns Curriculum Specialist for staff development and notifies Education Team.
Ensure that staff development supports school strategic initiatives.
Review DPP process with school principal.
School Support Collaborates with school leadership teams to ensure schools are supported appropriately by the Education Team.
Follows up on questions, concerns and requests from schools.
Establish schedule of QUEST visits within the region.
Run QUEST visits with support from the Curriculum Specialist.
Establish regional Curriculum Cadre schedule.
Establish regional testing schedule.
Review and provide feedback on IAFs in conjuncture with Human Resources.
Collaborates with Principal and Lead Regional Director to solve faculty and staff issues or problems in schools.
Works with Principal to solve parent issues and complaints.
Participates in weekly calls and monthly face-to-face meetings with Chief of Schools.
Ensures compliance with district site visits.
Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations and policies.
Follows through on duties and projects assigned by Chief of Schools.
Submits weekly update to Chief of Schools with regular status on schools.

JOB REQUIREMENTS A core commitment to putting students first in all decisions and embracing the mission, vision and values of CSUSA.
Master's degree (MA) or PhD from an accredited college or university or equivalent in an Education related field.
Emphasis on School Operations and Curriculum and Instruction helpful.

years related experience in School Operations, School Leadership and /or training.
5
years of experience in key leadership roles, managing school leaders including Principals, etc.
Educational Leadership Certification(s).
Must have a proven record of success in leading school(s),specifically with economically disadvantaged children,to high levels of performance.
Executive level experiencebeneficial, including the private and/or government sectors.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information Systems, preparing reports and visual presentations.
Wants to travel up to 60% of their time to be visible in their assigned schools.
Such alternatives to the above requirements as CSUSA may find appropriate and acceptable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.
FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
EVALUATION Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
